Arthritis is not one single condition
“Arthritis” describes a range of conditions. Osteoarthritis is common, but symptoms and causes vary. The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases notes that osteoarthritis can affect the whole joint, not only cartilage. A supplement cannot tell someone which condition they have.
What ingredient research has found
A 2024 meta-analysis of collagen derivatives in osteoarthritis reported average improvements across included trials. The studies differ in collagen form and protocol, so a pooled result does not establish a guaranteed effect from a specific product. Individual trials have also produced mixed findings.
The formula question is separate
More Than Collagen’s current label lists a multi-collagen peptide blend and a separate 40 mg line for undenatured Type II. That describes what is in the product. The cited studies tested particular ingredients or different formulas; they did not test Balmve’s finished product. A 2025 randomized trial of a combined collagen product did not outperform placebo over 12 weeks.
Make the next decision with the right information
If you have arthritis or ongoing joint symptoms, discuss options with a qualified health professional. If you are comparing supplements, inspect the exact ingredient forms, amounts and study populations. Evidence about an ingredient is useful context, not a substitute for evidence about the product you are buying.
